Vaping products duty

Last updated: 29/07/2026

  • At Spring Budget 2024, the previous government announced that it would introduce a new duty on vaping products.
  • There would also be a one-off tobacco duty increase, alongside the implementation of the duty rate on vaping products, to recognise the role vapes and e-cigarettes play in supporting individuals quit smoking. This would result in vapes and e-cigarettes remaining a cheaper alternative to tobacco products.
  • Finance Act 2026 includes legislation for the new vaping products duty (VPD).
  • Timing: VPD will come into effect on 1 October 2026.
