- At the Autumn Budget 2024, the government launched a consultation on extending the scope of the higher rate of APD to apply to all private jets, regardless of weight or number of passenger seats.
- Timing: the consultation closed on 22 January 2025 and the government issued the response on 26 November 2025. The legislation to extend the scope of APD will be introduced in a future finance bill, and will take effect from 1 April 2027.
